(September 11, 2024 - MADRID, SPAIN) Esther Acebo (“Money Heist”) has been tapped for a role in the newest film from Goya-nominated Spanish director Nestor Ruiz Medina. A critique of today's society in the vein of Ruben Östlund—“Al Final Todo va a Estar Bien” will tell five individuals' stories in five distinct but intertwining plotlines that will speak to both the essence and stupidity of humanity.
According to Medina, "The feature film is deeply rooted in reality. As the saying goes, truth is stranger than fiction. My aim with this project is to offer a mirror to modern humanity, highlighting our quirks and dependencies. As the narrative unfolds, that reflection naturally evolves into satire."
The cast also includes María Lázaro, who starred in Medina’s directorial debut “21 Paraíso,” and Alex Sorian Brown (“Hora y Veinte,” “Evan Wood”). Filming will take place over several weeks in locations in Cádiz and Castilla la Mancha. Mono con Pistolas Films and Sorenfilms are both on board to produce.
“A script so uncomfortable that I couldn’t sit still when I first read it; so different and fresh. Without a doubt, the film will stir emotions, make people uncomfortable, touch hearts, and move the audience. It will make people laugh as well as think. As an actress, I find it a wonderful challenge to tell this story, and I'm dying to do it.” said Acebo.
Néstor Ruiz Medina, a seasoned filmmaker in the short film circuit, has seen his work showcased at numerous prestigious international festivals, including Tribeca in New York. Twice nominated for a Goya Award, in 2018 and 2022, Medina made his feature debut with “21 Paraíso,” which premiered internationally at the Class A Black Nights Festival in Tallinn, Estonia, and made its Spanish national debut at the Seville European Film Festival. “21 Paraíso” garnered a Special Mention from the jury and the Young Jury Award for Best Debut Film at the REC Festival in Tarragona, and was also featured at the Atlàntida Film Fest in Mallorca, among other international screenings.
Esther Acebo, known for her role as Stockholm in “Money Heist,” has also appeared in TV shows such as “Operación Marea Negra” on Amazon Prime and “Antes de Perder” on Playz. She has also starred in feature films like “Jaula” by Ignacio Tatay and “De Perdidos al Río” by Joaquín Mazón. She is currently filming “La Increíble Historia de Julia Pastrana” for Disney+ and the feature film “Normas para una Página de Sucesos” by José Ortuño.
"Everything's Gonna be Alright in the End" marks a new collaboration between the director and the actress, who have previously worked together on several projects, including “Baraka,” an official selection at Tribeca, and a Goya nominee in 2018.
